AGE-OLD LANDSCAPES AND CITIES

We will start our journey immersed in the spectacular natural landscape of Monasterio de Piedra (Stone Monastery), where water and rocks have sculpted capricious waterfalls and grottos in the area around the 12th century monastery. We will then travel on to Cariñena, the cradle of wine, where we will enjoy a wine-tasting session at a local winery. Afterwards, we will move on to the historical centre of Zaragoza, which will never cease to amaze you with its contrasts, and we will visit the Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar. We will round off the trip in Daroca, a walled town teeming with history and some incredible cuisine.

19th September: Valencia - Monasterio de Piedra - Zaragoza

Departure from Valencia (Pantera Rosa and Nuevo Centro) to Monasterio de Piedra. We will travel around the historical gardens to discover the sober and well-lit architecture of the Monastery, and then we will have lunch at a local Zaragoza restaurant. We will then travel to the hotel, with a free afternoon before having dinner at the hotel.

20th September: Zaragoza - Cariñena

Departure from the hotel to Cariñena, the centre of the Wine Route, which we will discover first-hand on a visit to a local winery, tasting one of its best wines. At the end of the visit we will return to the hotel for lunch. Free afternoon and dinner at the hotel.

21st September: Zaragoza

We will take a guided tour around the city of Zaragoza. We will discover more about the regional capital of Aragon, walking around its historical centre to reach the famous Plaza del Pilar where the impressive Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar is located, the iconic symbol of Zaragoza. On ending the visit we will return to the hotel for lunch. Afternoon free to stroll around Zaragoza and get to know the most popular parts of the city centre, such as El Tubo (The Tube).

22nd September: Daroca - Valencia

To round off the trip we will travel to Daroca, a charming walled town teeming with history. There, we will take a guided tour to see the walls, the Jewry and the spectacular San Miguel viewpoint. On ending the visit, we will enjoy traditional Aragonese cuisine before returning to Valencia.

Peñíscola

UNDER CHRISTMAS LIGHTSThanks to how well it is conserved and maintained, the narrow streets and walls surrounding the historical centre have been the setting for many films. The monumental Papa Luna Castle stands on the cliff face, a medieval fortress with spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea, which Benedict XIII lived in the 15th century, making it one of the only three Holy Sees in the world. After visiting the castle, we will be able to try some traditional cuisine from Castellón. At night, we will see the Christmas lights which give a magical air to Peñíscola.
