Removing lipstick stains can be a real pain in the neck. You may have accidentally stained your favourite garment when applying your make-up or come across a stain on your clothes. Removing these stains can be quite a challenge. Below are some effective tips  for removing these unwanted lipstick stains because, with the right methods and a little patience, they can be removed completely.

1. Act fast

The first step for removing a lipstick stain is to act as fast as possible. The longer the stain remains, the harder it is to remove. Always try to remove the stain as soon as you see it.

2. Scrape all any excess

Use a blunt knife to gently scrape away any excess lipstick on the fabric. Take care not to spread the stain further.

3. Apply liquid detergent

Then, apply a small amount of liquid detergent directly on the lipstick stain. Spread the detergent on the fabric with your fingers or an old toothbrush. Make sure you cover the stain completely.

4. Leave the detergent on

To help the detergent penetrate the fibres of the fabric and act on the stain, leave the detergent to  work on the stain for at least 10-15 minutes.

5. Wash the garment

Follow the washing instructions for the garment on the label. Use hot water if the fabric permits it, as this could help remove the stain.

6. Check the stain before drying

Before drying the garment, make sure that the lipstick stain has completely disappeared. If the  stain persists, repeat the previous steps or try another cleaning method.

7. Use special products

If the lipstick stain is particularly stubborn, you can try with specific products for removing stains, such as spray stain remover or wipes to pre-treat the stain. Follow the product instructions and do a test on a small inconspicuous area first to make sure that it does not damage the fabric.
