How to remove glue from clothes: tricks and tips
Glue stains on clothes that don't come off? We give you a few tricks to make them disappear completely from all kinds of fabrics. Take note!

Glue is one of the most difficult products to remove, especially from fabrics. If it's dry it can be practically mission impossible, and if it's still wet, and we don’t treat the stain correctly, the only thing we will do is make it spread even further.
How to remove glue stains step by step:
Although glue is one of the most complicated products to remove from fabric there are some remedies that we can apply with products we usually have at home. Below we list the stains from lesser to greater intensity, and how to treat them.
Remains of stickers on clothes
The residues left on clothes by adhesive stickers are not very resistant stains, but they are annoying. You can treat them while they're still wet, but don't put the garment directly in the washing machine, because you'll only get more dirt to adhere to the stain.
- Soak the area with white vinegar dissolved in warm water.
- Leave it to work for a few minutes and remove the vinegar with a cloth.
- Wash the garment with the regular programme.
White glue or school glue
- If it is still wet, immerse the garment in cold water and active oxygen. If the glue is already dry, you will have to scrape the area first with a butter knife. This will remove most of it.
- Let the active oxygen work throughout the night.
- Wash with the regular programme in the washing machine
If you do not have active oxygen, you can use an iron:
- Place a piece of paper over the stain. Then turn the iron on, and place it on the paper, always without the steam option; it must be dry heat.
- When glue residues heat up, they will become liquid and will be absorbed by the paper that is in contact with it.
- Change the paper and repeat the operation as many times as necessary until the glue is completely removed.
Silicone or professional glue
- Wait for the stain to dry completely before touching it.
- Put the garment in a plastic bag and then put it in the freezer. When the garment is frozen, the glue hardens and can be removed more easily in one go without spreading to the whole garment.
- Wait at least one night for it to freeze completely.
- Try removing the glue with a blunt knife.
Other remedies
If after applying these steps there is still a stain or mark on the fabric, you can try applying lemon juice. Leave to work for 15 minutes, then sprinkle a little salt and wait another 15 minutes before removing the mixture.
Another powerful descaling agent is vinegar, and it is usually very effective in removing stubborn stains. Always dissolve it in warm water first to enhance its effect.
Acetone is another product that can be effective against this type of stain but, before using it on glue stains, it is advisable to test it on an area of the garment that is not visible as it could damage it.
