Removing grass stains can seem like quite a complicated task, but with the right products and techniques, you will be able to remove them without leaving a trace.
Grass stains are quite common on clothing, especially if you have children at home. The problem is that, if you don’t treat them on time, they can become ingrained in the fabric forever.
The reason for this lies in the components of grass. Chlorophyll, xanthophyll and carotenoids are very good at absorbing sunlight, therefore, grass stains dry quite quickly and adhere to clothing.
Luckily, there are lots of solutions to remove grass stains from any item of clothing.
First steps to remove grass stains
- Away from home: most of the time, grass stains appear when we aren’t at home. If this happens to you, to start with you should pre-treat the stain with 2/3 water and 1/3 vinegar or bicarbonate of soda. Soak the garment for at least 15 minutes.
- At home: if you have a detergent with enzymes to hand, apply it to the stain and leave for 20 minutes, then wash as normal. Active oxygen can also be used for white clothing. Make a paste with a little water, leave to activate on the stain and then place in the washing machine!
How to remove grass stains on jeans
The first step would be, as we explained above, to pre-treat the stain with liquid detergent and leave it to activate for 20 minutes. Then, we would scrub the stain with a small brush and place the jeans in the washing machine. The trick is to use water that is as hot as possible, provided the clothes label allows.
