Just follow these simple steps to get rid of mould stains from clothes:

We recommend washing clothes with mould stains in hot water. This will make sure that the fungi that are harmful for our health are effectively killed off. When you hang out your clothes to dry, we recommend making sure they are exposed to sunlight, as this also has a whitening effect and helps to get rid of mould.

Tips for getting rid of mould stains from coloured clothes

Once again, white vinegar is a strong disinfectant, and helps to kill off bacteria, fungi and other organisms that may have built up on our clothes. Likewise, it is very effective getting rid of mould stains from our clothes, but beware: it does not work well on white clothes!

The procedure is very simple. All you need to do is mix one cup of white vinegar per litre of water in a basin or other receptacle. Then place the garments in the basin and stir well. Leave the clothes to soak for a couple of hours. Wash the garment in the washing machine afterwards. And ready to go! If the stain is still there afterwards, repeat the process.

How to prevent mould and damp stains from forming on your clothes

Preventing moisture or humidity in our clothes is important to avoid problems that could affect our health and cause respiratory problems. That is why we are bringing you some tips to avoid it:

  • Hang out your clothes to dry outside immediately after washing, or dry them in a tumble dryer. The less time they remain damp, the less probability there is of mould forming.
  • Avoid leaving washed clothes in the washing machine.
  • Do not pile up damp clothes. Remember that moisture is the number one cause of mould appearing.
  • We recommend washing and drying our sports clothes immediately after exercising. Sweat contains bacteria, which can add to mould forming on our clothing.
  • Dry footwear outside, particularly after a busy day, and more so our trainers after doing sport.
  • Dry towels outside after showering.
  • Don’t forget to leave the washing machine and tumble dryer doors open after washing and drying clothes to get rid of any moisture and damp.
