So you don’t know how to clean coffee stains out? They are very common in daily life. So we are going to give you some tips and advice to get rid of them.
Coffee stains usually occur at the worst possible times, often when we are away from home. The stains tend to be dark and quickly penetrate the fabric, which is why acting as quickly as possible should be our first goal.
Three ways to clean recent coffee stains
- Try to soak up the liquid using a paper napkin. Press it over the stain on both sides of the fabric if necessary, but remember not to rub it to avoid spreading the stain further.
- If the stain is still wet, you can try washing it with a little soap and warm or hot water to rinse it out.
- Apply sparkling water to coffee stains to soften them and rinse them out. This will avoid it firmly attaching to the fabric and you will be able to wash it out easier in the washing machine.
How to clean dry coffee stains
- Try moistening the garment and use a stain remover before putting it in the washing machine. Remember to follow the manufacturer's instructions so as not to damage the fabric. These products are usually poured or sprayed onto the stain and are left to work for a few minutes. We then place the garments in the washing machine and wash them on our usual wash programme.
- Another product that can be a homemade remedy, particularly in the case of coffee stains on white clothes, is hydrogen peroxide. Wet a cloth with the hydrogen peroxide and dab it onto the stain. Leave it to work for around 10 minutes. Wash the garment in the washing machine afterwards.
- White vinegar can also be very useful to get rid of coffee stains. Apply a little to the fabric and leave it to work for a few minutes. Rinse it off with water after and then wash the garment in the washing machine.
- A surprisingly effective homemade remedy for coffee stains is egg yolk, which works particularly well on woollen garments and pale colours. Dilute the egg yolk, carefully rub it into the garment and leave it to work for a few minutes. Allow it to dry away from direct sunlight and then wash it as normal in the washing machine.
