We tell you 5 household tricks that will keep your house smelling clean at all times. Try them out!

  • A proper cleaning routine

There’s no need to say that, if you want your house to smell clean, you need to maintain certain hygiene habits within the home. Although, nowadays, there are a whole host of air fresheners with all types of aromas, there is nothing better than establishing a proper cleaning routine to get your house smelling clean. Otherwise, you will only mask the atmosphere of your home and it will be temporary.

  • Bicarbonate and vinegar: great allies against bad odours

To get the house smelling clean, you first need to get rid of bad odours. To do so, as well as a proper cleaning routine, the bathroom and kitchen require extra care, since they are the two focal points of bad odours, due to pipe work. Dirt residue builds up in the pipes that can give off bad odours in the long term. To get rid of them, pour a cup of white vinegar; half a cup of coarse salt and a cup of bicarbonate of soda down the drain. Leave the mixture to activate for half an hour and pour very hot water down.

  • Ventilate each day

As well as a good cleaning routine in the home, one of the solutions to get your home smelling clean is by renewing the air inside it. Get used to ventilating your house for at least 10 minutes a day. Above all, the bedroom, bathroom and kitchen areas.

A tip: if the air flows through your house, you can place a stick diffuser next to the window so the air moves the aroma around the house.

  • Create a cleaning routine tailored to your pet

If you have pets at home, you know that our furry friends’ hair or faeces are one of the main focus points of bad odours in our homes if we don't consider it carefully. What can we do with this? Create a cleaning routine tailored to their needs, such as sweeping or vacuuming the floor more regularly, for example; cleaning the litter tray several times per week or washing their bedding at least twice a month.

  • Pay attention to the textiles in your home

Along with the floor, the textiles in our homes are one of the focal points for bacteria and bad odours because they come into more contact with us, and therefore, with mites and bacteria....especially in the case of rugs! In addition to cleaning the textiles in the home regularly, now the hot weather is approaching, you can try to refresh them with a disinfectant textile odour removing spray.

Create a homemade air freshener to keep your house smelling clean

If there is a clean smell that we all love, it has to be the smell of clothes softener. If you want to create your own homemade air freshener, you’ll need:

To create your homemade air freshener, first add the bicarbonate to the glass of water and stir until fully dissolved. Pour the mixture into a clean spray bottle and add the 3 capfuls of softener. Shake the mixture so it mixes together thoroughly and before you spray any of your textiles.
