VALENCIA – XÀTIVA

Departure from Valencia Novotel Nuevocentro or Senator Parque Central, to Xàtiva. We start out visit in the Historical Centre, with its cobbled streets, plazas and traditional architecture. A lot of the streets are decorated with lights and festive ambience at Christmas, making it perfect for strolling around and taking lots of photos.

We will go to Albereda Jaume I, where the Monumental Nativity Scene of Xàtiva is assembled, one of the biggest in Spain, with life-size figures and scenes that we can walk through and contemplate the details. The Traditional Nativity Scene and the Hebrew Nativity Scene are close together and can optionally be visited in San Francesc church.
We will walk around the Christmas Market and Fair near the Nativity Scene.

At midday, after finding out more about the history of Xàtiva, it will be time to try out the typical cuisine. Rice is one of the staple dishes, with baked rice in an earthenware casserole dish, with beans and turnip, or with tender garlic. We will be able to try one of them. A local dessert known as “arnadí”, made from pumpkin, almonds, sugar and cinnamon, will then be served.

After lunch, we will walk around Plaça del Mercat (Market Square) to marvel at the Christmas decorations and lights. And also, the traditional market stands.

We will return to Valencia in the evening.
