What is facial yoga?
It is a trending practice because of its many benefits. Facial yoga is a version of yoga that just concentrates on your face. The main purpose is to train your face muscles by doing some face stretching, exercises and massages that will help to tone and relax the muscles in your face.
It is a “non-invasive” way to confer suppleness, tautness and firmness to your skin so that it looks beautifully healthy. Wave goodbye to flabbiness without any needles!
Facial yoga: the best exercises and how to do them
Through facial yoga we enhance the firmness of our face muscles and increase blood flow to rejuvenate our skin, to relax our face and iron out our wrinkles, expression lines and flabbiness, etc.
One of the big advantages of this method is that we achieve results very quickly without too much effort. According to experts in facial yoga, we are able to notice improvements after just 10 days. We only need between 10 and 15 minutes a day around four days a week to do our face exercises.

We are going to describe 4 simple facial yoga exercises that you could include in your daily skincare routine. A good time to do these exercises is at night before you go to sleep.
Lip puckering
This is the perfect exercise for your lips and to recover the firmness to your jawline and neck. First of all, tilt your head back and look upwards before puckering your lips. Repeat this exercise around 10 times and then relax your face and take a deep breath.
Tornado
This exercise will help smoothen the wrinkles around your mouth. It consists of running your tongue around the inside of your lips three times in one direction, and then repeating it in the other direction. Repeat this exercise 10 times.
Fish
this exercise helps to work our cheek muscles, strengthening and lifting them while also improving circulation. Suck your cheeks in as far as you can and tap them with your hands while holding them in that position. Hold the position for 30 seconds and repeat the exercise 10 times. Furthermore:
-
- For a thinner, more defined face, make a fish face with your mouth and smile 30 times.
- To raise your cheekbones and increase their volume, close your mouth, pull your lips together and smile 30 times.
Surprise
This workout exercises our face muscles, and it is also good fun. It is perfect to tone up your eye muscles and even out expression lines on your forehead. It consists of opening your eyes wide but taking care not to wrinkle you forehead at the same time! Hold this position while taking deep breaths and then close your eyes for 10 seconds. Repeat 10 times.
Goodbye double chin
To get rid of your double chin and wrinkles or nasolabial folds, we need to apply pressure to our right maxillary bone with our fist working bottom-up, but without causing wrinkles. It is best to do this exercise looking in the mirror. When you are in the right position, poke your tongue out to the side opposite to the one you are pressing, i.e. to the left, and turn your eyes to the left without rotating your head. Hold the position for 10 breaths and then repeat it on the other side of your face.
Nasolabial folds
Another exercise to fight off your nasolabial folds from your nose to the corner of your mouth is to stretch the muscle in the deep area using your fingers. Apply some face oil afterwards and then massage it outwards. Repeat this eight times.
Getting rid of frown lines
Hold your eyebrows with your fingers and then frown to strengthen the muscles in this area of your face. You should do three sets of 10 repetitions in this exercise.
Toning your cheekbones
Try to smile while forming an “O” shape with your mouth. It is not easy, but the resistance you will feel means that your cheekbone muscles are working out. Hold the position for about 10 seconds, and repeat five times.
Reducing bags under your eyes
Place the index fingers of each of your hands above your eyebrows and the middle fingers underneath to hold them and get rid of wrinkles and bags under your eyes to improve the draining effect. Now close your eyes and look upwards. Repeat this movement 10 times.
Firming up droopy eyelids
Make a “V” shape with your fingers and place them in each corner of your eyes, then look upwards and sideways while your eyes are closed. Hold each eye movement for five seconds and repeat three times.
Countering bruxism
To reduce involuntarily grinding your teeth or tightening your jaw, we need to place our index and middle finger in the angle of our jaw and then press down with your middle finger and hold it for about 20 seconds. Then repeat this exercise on the other side of your face. You can use face oil for this exercise.
Reducing crows’ feet
A relaxing exercise to prevent and iron them out. It helps to strengthen and stretch the area around our eyes. We need to keep our eyelids firmly closed, tense and stretched to start with, while gently sliding our fingers over our temples to reach our hairline.
Reducing drooping jowls
To do this exercise, you just need to close your mouth and suck 30 times.
How to rejuvenate your face? Best tips

Apart from your facial yoga exercises to tone and strengthen your face, it can also affect other aspects such as:
- Boosting your immune system: open your mouth slightly and then use your knuckles to press between your jawbone and your sternocleidomastoid muscle and move them for around 30 seconds. Repeat the exercise on the other side of your face. Do this four or five times a day to stimulate your Tenyu pressure point and boost your immune system.
- Lifting your look: you will need to raise your eyebrows and work the lower part with your fingers, pulling backwards, allowing them to drop and massaging backwards.
- Lifting the corner of your mouth: use your fingers to raise this area, holding pressure for 15 seconds and repeating it three times a day.
- Reducing jaw tension: open your mouth and press backwards from the zygomatic bone towards the lower maxillary bone. Massage the masseter muscle for a minute every day using oil or cream.
- Honing your nose: and also softening the wrinkles in this part of your face. You should use cream to stretch your nose area and tense it while your mouth is slightly open.
In addition to these exercises, keeping to some beauty routines is also fundamental.
- Carefully cleaning off any makeup every night and cleansing your face is essential.
- Proper, specific moisturising for your face and eyes during the day and night is also important.
- Use sun cream all year round, in summer and in winter.
- Do physical exercise.
- Keep to a balanced diet.
- Drink plenty of water to keep your skin properly hydrated.

It is very important to act early. Don’t wait for the first signs of flabbiness before your start using firming creams.
Collagen is a fundamental protein in our organism, which we gradually lose over the years. It confers elasticity and hydration to our skin and plays a fundamental role in keeping our skin firm and taut.
