What does each icon on my clothing label mean?
As if it were an instructions book, our clothing garments bring with them the necessary indications to know how to clean them without putting your foot in it.
Therefore, in order to programme our washing machine, it is necessary to know what each of its icons means, so that we can continue to enjoy our clothes for a long time.
All about the icons on the labels
- The bucket filled with water. This icon could not be clearer and indicates issues such as the temperature (the degrees will appear inside the bucket) at which to put the washing machine on, whether we should hand wash the garment, or whether it needs dry cleaning (the bucket will be crossed out).
- The triangle. This symbol represents all types of whitening agents, although the most common is bleach. If the triangle is crossed out it means that you should not use bleach on that garment, and should resort to other whitening methods, such as lightening in the sun.
- The square with a circle inside. This represents the tumble dryer, and it may or may not be crossed out depending on whether you can use that appliance to dry your garment or not. It also has indications about the heat setting, usually represented by the number of dots.
- The iron. This indicates, within the figure of an iron, the temperature at which it should be ironed (by means of small dots, from less to more). If it is crossed out, that garment cannot be ironed; if the cross appears below, it means that you cannot use steam.
- The square. This icon indicates the way the garment should be dried outdoors, either hanging on a clothesline, placed horizontally on a table, and even if it should be dried in the shade.
As you can see, discovering the meaning of the labels on clothes was not so difficult, it only remains to apply this new knowledge!
