Tightlining: What it is and how to do it
Tightlining is a makeup technique to enhance your look while ensuring a natural appearance. We’re going to teach you how to do it step by step. Shall we start?

What is tightlining?
Tightlining, or invisible eyeliner, is basically a technique to line your eyes without it being apparent.
It is simply a way of lining your eyes, more specifically your upper eyelid, but not over the top line of your eyelashes, but rather below it. We actually apply makeup to the upper waterline, just as we do to the lower one.
Compared to heavier makeup styles, where contouring plays a dominant role, we can also see the “no makeup” trend, which is basically applying makeup to make it look as if you aren’t wearing any: This uses more subtle techniques that aim to confer more natural beauty.

What is tightlining for?
With tightlining, we give depth to our eyes without losing the natural look. In fact, it is a way of framing our eyes in the same way as we do with the lower line to make it stand out, the only difference being that we do this on our upper eyelid.
Furthermore, through this technique we thicken our eyelashes, since we line the base of our upper eyelashes to give them a translucent touch.

How to apply tightlining step by step
- First of all we gently lift up our upper eyelid and mark out some small dots in the spaces between our eyelashes, right on the edge next to our eyes, and always working inwards from the outer corner of the eye. If we want a more natural look, we should not join the dots together, leaving a space between them.
- If we want to further enhance our look, we should do the same on the lower eyelid, again applying it very gently without joining the dots to make a line.
- We then use an eyelash curler and only apply one layer of mascara to our eyelashes for a natural looking finish.
- We finish the process off with a touch of blusher on our cheeks and a little lipstick, depending on the effect we want to achieve.
