Thermal baths have been used throughout history because of their incredible therapeutic properties, and today they are still one of the stars at spas and specialist massage parlours.
Thanks to pharmaco-cosmetics we are able to find a large number of products that feature thermal water in their compositions, thereby allowing us to enjoy their benefits for our beauty and personal care without having to leave home.
What is thermal water and what is it used for?
It is naturally mineralised spring water, whose composition remains constant over time, making it suitable for therapeutic use.
The origin of the water is what provides it with its unique composition and properties, since most thermal waters around the world are rich in minerals such as manganese, magnesium, selenium, copper, calcium and zinc. That is precisely why many cultures have been using thermal water baths for healing or relaxation purposes throughout history.
When used alone, or as part of a skincare routine, thermal water helps to soothe, strengthen and re-establish the balance of our skin, reducing its sensitivity in just a few short minutes. It is particularly suitable for sensitive skins or skin conditions: irritated skin, redness, sunburn, psoriasis, dermatitis, etc.

Benefits and properties of thermal water
Premium hydration: as a source of hydrating nutrients for our skin, it helps to reduce dryness on our face. Using it all year is advisable, since it will help to avoid dryness caused by air-conditioning, climate change and heating, just to mention a few.
Antioxidant power: because of the high number of minerals, particularly magnesium and manganese, it protects the skin from oxidation and free radicals, which prevents premature ageing and the appearance of wrinkles on our face.
Soothing effect: thermal water permits preventing and treating skin irritation and reddening, having a soothing feeling and helping to regenerate cell tissue. Therefore, it alleviates pain and avoids irritation after epilation of the eyebrows or upper lip.
Makeup fixer: if you spray some on your face after applying makeup, it helps to make it stay in place longer.
How to use thermal water
To start using thermal water in your beauty routine, we recommend following these steps:
Wash your face in the morning with a mild face cleanser suitable for your skin type.
Apply some tonic to balance the skin’s pH and boost the effect of other products.
Spray a little thermal water on to start hydrating your skin. Leave it until it has been absorbed and then dry your face gently with a towel before continuing.
Use a serum with suitable ingredients for the specific needs of your skin (vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, etc.).
Apply some moisturising cream.
Use sun cream.
At night, remove any makeup from your face using a good makeup remover.
Repeat the first 5 steps in the routine but using products designed for nighttime face care.
