Discover what dip powder nails is, the latest trend. We tell you how to do it and how long this manicure lasts. Don’t miss out!

If you are a manicure lover and you love flaunting perfect nails, you just have to learn about this new trend that has caused a stir on social media. It’s called “dip powder nails”.
What is dip powder nails?
Dip powder nails is a semi-permanent manicure technique that consists of applying enamel powder to your nails. The powder adheres to your nails by means of an adhesive base to create a very strong surface, making it longer-lasting than traditional enamel.
One of the specifics of this technique is that we don’t need to use a LED or Ultraviolet lamp to seal the product. We just allow it to dry naturally. Therefore, this is the perfect manicure if we are short of time.
Another advantage of dip powder nails is that it is a less harmful technique, since the powder does not stick to the nails or skin, but rather to the adhesive gel underneath. It is therefore ideal for people with weak nails.

How to do dip powder nails?
We are now going to explain how to apply dip powder:
- Preparing your nails. The first thing you need to do is to file your nails and push back your cuticles, as with any other manicure.
- Apply the base. Apply an enamel base so that the powder will stick to it.
- Using the powder. It is now time to dip your fingers in the powder, gently introducing and removing them. Repeat the process two or three times until you achieve the colour you want, and then brush off any excess powder.
- Apply the activator. To set the product, you need to apply a coat of activating enamel and allow it to dry for around 20 seconds.
- Using the top coat. Finally, apply a layer of top coat to your nails for extra shine and a longer-lasting finish.
- Using cuticle oil. For a perfect finish, add a few drops of cuticle oil and massage it in to keep your nails hydrated.

How long do dip powder nails last?
Dip powder is a manicure technique that can last up to four weeks depending on how you care for and maintain your nails. With care and without excessive wear, dip powder nails can keep looking good and stay strong for longer than gel.
To remove dip powder, you will need to follow a process similar to acrylic manicures. In other words, you will first have to gently file the top coat, then cover your nails with cotton pads soaked in acetone for several minutes, and finally remove the product using a cuticle scraper.
