Makeup for red dresses: the best combinations

Red is the one colour that goes well with any hair and skin colour, which is why it is the colour par excellence at main events and galas. Nobody is indifferent to this colour. Whether you are blonde, brunette or a red-head, pale or darker skinned, there is nothing like a red dress or jacket, whichever the tone, to hit it off. 

When applying makeup though, we need to bear in mind when we are going to be wearing red, day or night, at a wedding or a more festive event. 

What type of makeup should I use with a red dress?

We should choose a nude tone for our makeup foundation. Whether the event is at night or during the day, using a nude tone on our skin will enhance the juicy, hydrated effect, and will also allow us better possibilities of highlighting our eyes or lips and therefore our clothes. 
We should use a pink powder tone on our cheeks if we have lighter skin, and peach or very pale brown shades on darker skin.

When wearing red, we need to go for a bold look around our eyes, either that or something more neutral and delicate. 
If the event is during the day, we recommend giving prominence to your lips and dress by using neutral shades such as a soft gold or light pink, but always with well-lined eyes in black and well-marked eyelashes to set off our look. 
If the event is at night though, we have many more options with our eye makeup. When wearing a red dress we should ideally apply smokey colours to enhance our look. Smokey eyes have become the trend this season. The shades that best combine with red dresses are blacks and coffee colours.

We could also be slightly bolder and use other colours. For example, if we have blue eyes, we can use electric blue or silver eyeshadow. If we have green eyes, we can use violet, plum, brown or green shadow to give that extra chic touch to our look.
