Your dress, shoes, bag and jewellery are all important when getting ready for an event such as a baptism, and the makeup we choose can make all the difference to our final look.
Baptisms, as is the case of communions, are very joyful events, because the younger ones in the family take the centre stage, so we often choose pale or pastel shades. Baptisms usually take place during the day, and can last through to the evening, so we have to make sure that we use these tips to ensure our makeup lasts for hours and hours. Baptisms are less serious affairs than other events such as weddings, and since they tend to be during the day, with warmer temperatures, a natural look is perhaps best.

Makeup for baptisms, step by step

  • Get your skin ready: make sure your skin is clean and free from any remains of makeup from the day before. You can use a revitalising ampoule if you want to give more light to your skin. Then apply some moisturising cream with sun protection which will help protect your skin from UV rays. Moisturising and sun cream are basic, not only for this type of makeup, but for everyday use in general.

  • Even out the tone: choose a foundation that evens out the colour tone of your skin, covering any imperfections and keeping it moisturised so that your makeup doesn’t crack during the day. Remember to correct any bags under your eyes and any other imperfections, by blending it properly. If you use a brush to apply your makeup in gentle dabbing movements, you will achieve a more natural finish. Finish off by applying translucent powder to enhance and set the foundation. Concentrate on the T zone (forehead, cheeks and chin) which are the parts of the face where most oil tends to build up.

  • Give you face some bloom: remember to use a little blusher to finish off that romantic, fresh, young look. A little over the top of your cheekbones will be enough to give you a fresh, young look. Pink shades go particularly well on paler skin, whereas peach or coral colours are better for browner skin.

  • Frame your look: choose nude or pastel shades for your eyeshadow, for example 3 pink or blue shades. Since these events are usually during the day, we recommend not going over the top with darker colours, and enhancing your eyelashes and brows to frame a sweeter look. Don’t forget to curl you eyelashes and apply mascara for more volume to make sure they last all through the event.

  • Combine your lipstick: you might want to choose the colour of your lipstick to match your dress and the eyeshadow you have used. If you have made up your eyes heavily, paler colours on your lips will go better. On the other hand, if you have gone for paler colours, you could make your lips stand out more with deeper shades. Pink or coral colours are better for daytime events, leaving reds and maroons for the night.

  • Set your look: when you have finished the steps described above, and everything is to your satisfaction, remember to use a fixing spray or thermal water to fix your look. This will ensure it lasts longer with a completely smooth, velvety skin look.
