Types of pillows and how to wash them

  • It is advisable to wash pillows at least a couple of times a year, as well as whenever you get over a viral process, following the manufacturer's instructions.

  • Synthetic pillows can generally be washed in the washing machine, but always according to the programme indicated on the label.

  • Feather pillows usually require dry cleaning. In this case we can choose to unstitch the seams, remove the down, wash the fabric part and put the case back on once it is clean.

  • To protect them and avoid the accumulation of dirt, it is recommended to use a protective cover between the pillow and the actual bed set pillowcase.

  • Turn it over often to prevent it from becoming deformed.

  • Air it from time to time.

How to remove the yellowish colour from the pillowcase?

Pillowcases, which are usually white, often have yellow marks caused by hair or facial products, sweat or saliva, and should therefore be washed frequently, at least every two weeks, to prevent the appearance of bacteria.

  • Pre-wash by hand: use a specific product to treat the stains.

  • Degreaser in tablet or spray form

  • Whitener

  • Other natural whiteners: white vinegar, lemon or bicarbonate, diluted in water

  • Washing:

    • At high temperatures (between 40ºC and 60ºC), to definitively eliminate the microorganisms.

    • Add powdered detergent and whitener to the detergent drawer if you want to improve the final result.
