How to do a French manicure: Advice and tips
Body

French manicure is a technique that consists in applying white nail polish to the tips of the nails, and then applying a layer of transparent or pink nail polish. In this way, we achieve a natural finish and perfect care for any occasion.

Many of us have probably asked our beautician for this style of nail manicure, but, have you tried doing it yourself at home? It’s easier than you think.

How to do a French manicure at home?

Here we tell you step by step how to make your nails look better than ever. You only need a bit of patience to dry every layer. Take note:

  1. Prepare the nail: file the nail to shape it as you like it (round or square) trying to respect the natural shape of the nail, and for this not to be too long. Thus, you will manage to make the manicure last for longer. Also eliminate cuticles, and polish the surface a little bit.

  2. Base: apply a base or nail hardener to strengthen them, and when this layer is dry, start with the French manicure.

  3. White edge: apply the white polish from side to side over the edge of the nail, giving it a rounded shape. Then wait for it to dry.

  4. Top coat: end the process by applying a protective layer (top coat) onto each nail. This will help keep the polish intact and shiny for longer.

Tips for a magazine French manicure

  • To keep your hand from shaking, always rest it on a support.

  • If you apply too much on the edge, use a corrector pencil, or a cotton bud soaked in a bit of polish-remover to eliminate faults.

  • There are some stickers, especially designed for French manicure, which are shaped like a half moon, and they are placed on the nail at the border between white and pink. Use them so you are not afraid of painting the white part, and when dry, remove the sticker and the result will be perfect.

Different French manicure: pink, multi-colour and designs

For the more daring of you, the French manicure does not necessarily have to be done with white nail polish. Every year, nail art trends appear with respect to this technique, which apply different, livelier, colours, such as yellow or bubble gum pink, and there are even those who choose glitter tones, which modernise the technique, and adapt it to the current fashion.

And don’t just keep to a manicure, dare to do a French pedicure, and you will see how great your feet look.
