Keep some chamois dusters in your cleaning cabinet and wipe them over the surface of your leather sofa from time to time for maintenance.

There are more tips to clean a leather sofa or armchair:

  • Apply moisturising cream once or twice a year to hydrate the leather of the sofa.
  •  If there are any stubborn stains on the sofa, moisten a cloth in beer, wipe over the sofa and then remove it with another cloth moistened in clean water.
  • You can also try with lemon or orange peel. Apply directly to the stain and it will gradually disappear.
  • Egg white can be used to remove embedded stains. Beat an egg white until stiff, and rub with a cloth over the stain as many times as necessary until it disappears.

Do not apply any abrasive products on your leather sofa.

How to clean an imitation leather sofa

An alternative to natural leather is an artificial material that we are all familiar with: imitation leather. In fact, many households have chosen this synthetic material, which also brings an air of elegance to the living room.

It is cleaned in the same way as specified above. But, add this trick:

  • Add shine to your sofa with a homemade conditioner. To do this, fill a spray with a mixture of two parts of flaxseed oil and one part of white vinegar, and spray onto your sofa.

Whether your sofa is made of leather or imitation leather, clean it regularly with chamois dusters once a month so that dirt does not accumulate, and follow the steps we have shared in this article.
