Discover the Different Types of Cleaning Gloves
Discover the different types of cleaning gloves: protect your hands from bleach, chemicals and dirt with the best materials.
Best cleaning gloves
Choosing the right type of cleaning gloves is fundamental to protect your hands and to maintain hygiene. Cleaning gloves must be strong, comfortable and allow easy movement. Moreover, it is important to use specific gloves for each job, avoiding mixing them between cleaning in order to ensure safe cleaning. It is therefore important to use the right type of gloves.
You will first have to consider several things when choosing one glove or another:
- Sensitivity: it is important to consider that the gloves should feel natural, without hardly noticing that we are wearing them, which is particularly important in surgery. The ones with the most natural feel are latex gloves, followed by nitrile gloves, and the least sensitive ones are vinyl.
- Allergens: latex gloves are the ones that are most likely to cause allergies, whereas vinyl and nitrile gloves virtually never do.
- Strength: finally, we need to consider how easy or hard it is to stretch the gloves or tear or pierce them. Nitrile and vinyl gloves are the strongest.

Latex gloves
The main use for these gloves is to do work using chemicals. They are characterised by their elasticity, flexibility and strength. They are supplied with corn starch powder to make putting them on easier. Latex can cause irritation or allergies, but this does not affect the properties of the gloves. Latex gloves without any powder are also available. To produce them, they are washed thoroughly and then coated with polymers to ensure they are easy to put on without the need for powder.
Vinyl gloves
These gloves are widely used in different sectors, and are very common in the food industry, since they are suitable for handling foods and they are also very resistant to oils. They resist abrasion well, but not heat. Moreover, they do not contain any allergens, and they are therefore suitable for people who are allergic to latex.
Nitrile gloves
Nitrile gloves provide better protection that vinyl gloves. They are ideal for preventing contagion and for carrying out jobs involving biological or chemical risks and exposure to hazardous substances. They are not advisable for cold work, but they are for mechanical or construction work. They are also available with a nylon coating over the nitrile, making them useful for handling touchscreens without having to take the gloves off.
