If there is just one annual music festival that kicks off the festival season and at the same time sets the styles and trends in fashion and in beauty, it has to be the Coachella festival, in California.

Nevertheless, there are two things that never fail and are repeated year after year with our festival looks: plaits or braids and headscarves, whether you have short or long hair, if you go with either of these two trends you will be well set to become the life and soul of the festival.

Shine and accessories are stand out in our clothes, our hair and our makeup. “Less is more” just doesn’t work at these events, quite the opposite in fact, we can go over the top with our accessories.

Festival hairdos that are always a success

  • Plaits or braids. Plaits are the hair style par excellence at festivals. But just because we have our hair in a plait doesn’t mean it has to be simple hairdo, there are many types and styles of plaits. Boxer braid plaits start at the roots but on both sides and are a great choice for festivals, meaning we can tie our hair back and relieve ourselves of the sticky heat. What's more, these plaits go well with just about all styles. If we want something more chic, we can start with a plait from half way down our head and when we reach our nape, we tie in a hair band, leaving a low ponytail which we can tie a headscarf, a scrunchie or a big bow to..

  • Waves with mini braids. Wavy hair is an open secret that comes back year after year on the catwalks. From the more striking, sophisticated waves to the unbrushed look, through to beach and surfer waves full of sea air. Music festivals are no exception to this trend, but always with something extra... waves and plaits, both together. To achieve this style, we make waves in our hair and then take different locks to make mini braids.

  • Bubble braids. This is a particularly striking, fun look, and one that is very, very easy to do. You just need some small rubber hair bands. We can do this style with a high ponytail or two ponytails, one on each side. We then choose the part where we want to make the bubble braid and tie it off with the first rubber hair band. We then place another one lower down to make a small bubble. We repeat the same process until we reach the end of the section, and voila!

  • Headscarves on our head. The pirate look or turban, depending on how we attach it and our hair style, we can make different looks whilst also protecting our heads from the sun.

  • Piercing in our hair. These accessories have come into fashion in recent years. It all consists of make one or several small braids and hanging pendants from them. They could be simple hoops or charms. Depending on our haircut or hair style, we can choose a more sophisticated or alternative look. 90’s hair clips or

  • Space buns. There is one trend that has gone particularly viral this year, and these are high buns, completely inspired in the 90's and rejuvenate any look. They are comfortable to wear, easy to do and look good. We simply split our hair in two sections and make two high buns, one on each side of our head. We can also do it by just tying up the two parts of our hair and leaving the rest loose, either straight or wavy.
