Facial cleansing at home
Contamination and other factors make our skin lose its natural gloss. Follow these steps to make it glow again, by correctly cleansing your face at home.
Apart from your daily hygiene routine, that is, cleansing your face well before going to bed, a more in-depth facial routine is necessary at least once a month to remove all dead cells that might have accumulated, and encourage good blood circulation in the skin area.

Facial cleansing in 7 steps
1. Cleanse your face
Remove remains of make-up and accumulated dirt with soap and cleansing milk, as you would do in your daily routine. Start with your eyes and eye contour area, and then continue with the rest of your face.
2. Prepare your skin
Open the pores with steam. This step is necessary for the product you use later to be able to penetrate the skin well. Boil water to generate steam, and add essential oils, such as for instance, lavender, tea tree or thyme, as well as to benefit from their properties to help you relax. Put your head over the steam and cover it with a towel for at least 10 or 15 minutes.
3. Exfoliate to eliminate impurities
Apply an exfoliating or peeling product. Use an exfoliating product by applying a gentle circular massage with gauze or a piece of cotton wool, without pressure. Avoid your eye contour and lip areas. Massage your forehead, nose and chin a little more intensely. This will help you to remove dead cells, blackheads and pimples. Exfoliation is done with a granulated product (mechanical exfoliation); it can be done with salt or sugar if you have no products at home, or chemical (enzymatic peeling).
4. Eliminate blackheads and pimples
With very clean hands, and using two pieces of clean gauze, paper or cotton wool, remove the most visible blackheads, and apply light pressure on the areas with more impurities. Avoid using your nails. Remember that your pores are open, and everything must be very clean to avoid infections. Do not insist if they resist you. Then, remove residues that might remain with cotton wool and warm water.
5. Treat
Apply a mask with soothing properties, for greasy skin, moisturising, anti-wrinkle, to foster luminosity, or with relaxing properties, depending on your skin needs. Follow the product instructions. If you prefer to make a homemade mask, make use of the properties of such normal ingredients as cucumber, honey, yogurt or lemon. Make sure you remove it entirely before you continue with the next step.
6. Seal
Close the pores with a toner after removing the mask to ensure the effect of the cleansing, and maintain its result. If you have nothing at home, you can prepare it with green tea, tapping into its neutral astringent power.
7. Moisturise
With your skin completely dry, and as gently as possible, spread a moisturising cream onto your face, and leave it to act for a few minutes. Choose it according to your skin type: greasy, dry, mixed or normal.
It is advisable to carry out the facial cleansing in the evening-night, so that your skin has longer to recover from the process, and leave it free from make-up and other products for a few hours.
