Dying your hair at home
Now we have to spend more time at home, we encourage you to look after your hair. We tell you how to dye your hair at home, step-by-step.

If you have never done this on your own, it is very simple. The most important thing is to exactly follow each manufacturer's instructions for use, and thus be able to say goodbye to those awful roots and grey hair.
Things to bear in mind before starting:
- It is best not to have washed your hair for at least two days beforehand. The dye will fix better and it will irritate your scalp less.
- If your hair is damaged, it will absorb the colour more and better, so the tips will have a stronger and more resistant tone, as this is the part of the hair that suffers the most.
- If you only have a few grey hairs to cover up, applying a colour wash instead of a dye might be sufficient.
- If you have never used a particular dye, it is advisable to do an allergy test first on hair at the nape of your neck.
What do you need to start to dye your hair?
- Old towels that can get soiled, as you will have to handle objects during the process and you will need to have them at hand.
- An old t-shirt. During the process, dye may fall onto your shoulders and neck, and afterwards you have to wash your hair and take the t-shirt off over recently-dyed hair. You can also use a rubbish bag as a cape to prevent soiling too much.
- Vaseline or thick cream, to cover the hair line (and ears), and prevent them from being dyed.
- Gloves, although dyes usually include a pair of gloves; we recommend using cooking gloves as they are more resistant.
- Watch, to calculate the application time.
- Brush and container to make the mixture.
- Hair grips, to divide hair into sections to dye it.
Steps to dye your hair at home:
- Firstly, and most importantly, follow the manufacturer’s instructions for use.
- Then, prepare the mixture very well, in a bowl you have chosen. It must be homogeneous, and the thicker the better.
- The next step is to separate hair into locks to be able to apply the dye more easily.
- Try to stain the scalp as little as possible.
- After applying the dye to all the locks of hair, massage your head well to avoid leaving areas without dye, or with different tones.
- When the time indicated by the manufacturer has elapsed, wash your hair with warm or cold water, insofar as possible. With this, you will manage to seal the cuticle, and the colour will settle and last longer.
