Why do we bleach hair?

Bleaching our body or facial hair helps to move attention away from hair in zones that we don't want to epilate, either because there is not very much there or because epilation of the zone could be costly and/or painful.
In fact many northern European women resort to hair bleaching to avoid epilation altogether.
This method is both efficient and useful if there is not too much hair to bleach and your skin is not very dark, otherwise the opposite effect would occur and the bleached hair would stand out even more.

The most usual zones to bleach hair

The most usual places to bleach hair are the back, arms, under the navel, shins and toes, but also on our faces, our upper lip and chin.
The hair bleaching process is very simple and easy to do. We just need to buy a special kit and follow the instructions.

The first thing to do is read the instructions of the product we are going to use, and although most of these bleaching creams are similar in how they are used, there can be some exceptions because of the components they contain.
We should then test a small amount on an area of our body to make sure we don't have an allergic reaction to the product.
We should always bear in mind that although these products are very convenient and simple to use, most of them are based on hydrogen peroxide and we should therefore not use them on irritated skin, warts and/or moles.
We need to use a spatula to apply the combination of bleaching cream and powder on our skin, then wait for around 10 minutes and rinse it off afterwards with water. We will then be able to see how the colour of the hair will have changed.

Natural products

Apart from the commercially available products, we can also bleach our hair with natural products such as camomile, lemon and apple cider vinegar.
We apply them by soaking cotton wool in the product we have chosen and then applying it to the hair we want to bleach. Leave it to work for around 5 to 10 minutes and then rinse off using water.
Finally, we should be very careful to avoid exposing that area of the skin to sunlight immediately after applying any of the hair bleaching methods to avoid blotching and burning of our skin.
