If there is one household appliance that has been booming in recent years, it's the air fryer. Together with the fact that interest in leading a healthy diet and reducing the amount of fats we eat is becoming more prevalent, air fryers are becoming our greatest allies in the kitchen, without foregoing that “crunchy effect” that we love so much in our gastronomy.
But as with all appliances, are we maintaining it properly so it keeps working in perfect condition?
Steps to clean an air fryer
- First, make sure the fryer is unplugged from any mains electricity.
- You should separate the electric components of the fryer before starting to clean it.
- Now, remove the oil and bits of food from inside the fryer using kitchen paper.
- Then remove all the pieces from inside the fryer and leave them in the sink.
- Afterwards, use another piece of kitchen paper and remove any residues of oil and food that may still be inside.
- Wash all the pieces that you placed in the sink using hot water and washing-up liquid to remove the excess grease. Use a scouring sponge that doesn’t scratch surfaces. Even better, use the soft sponge side to avoid damaging any of the pieces.
- If there are some parts that aren’t clean after the initial wash, you can add white wine vinegar to degrease them and use a toothbrush to scrub the narrow pieces that are hard to clean.
- For the coating of the Air Fryer, ideally you should use a new microfibre cloth with warm water and neutral soap and wipe it several times until all the remaining dirt and grease has been removed.
- Before reassembling and fitting all the pieces together, make sure they are all dry.
