How to apply serum for the best results
Would you like to know how to use face serum for the best results? Find the right serum for you and add it to your routine.

Although dermatologists do not have a unanimous opinion about when to start using face serum, it is true that as the years go by our skin starts to oxidate and the first signs of ageing appear. Serum can be your best ally to delay those signs of ageing.
What does serum do?

Serum has become an indispensable part of our face care routine. Thanks to its texture, which is much lighter than moisturising cream, it is absorbed quickly meaning it penetrates our skin easily to deeply hydrate and nourish it. Since it has a high concentration of active ingredients, it achieves more visible, effective results in less time. Moreover, it does not leave an oily finish.
Serum is therefore not a substitute for face moisturiser, but rather a complement to it.
How to choose the right serum
The extremely varied active ingredients in serum will determine how the cosmetic works. There are serums with the following effects:
- Anti-wrinkle: in which the retinoids and their derivatives are emphasised which fight against wrinkles and regenerate the skin.
- Moisturising: with hyaluronic acid which is capable of capturing one thousand times more its own weight of water.
- Pigment corrector: with active ingredients such as Arbutin, Kojic Acid, Phytic Acid, liquorice extract, and others.
- Antioxidant: such as vitamins C and E, often closely associated with each other, enhancing its effects.
- Repairing: with peptides, proteoglycans or extracellular matrix growth factor regeneration.
- Exfoliating: with different acids such as glycolic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid, etc. having an exfoliating action that helps to renew the skin.
- Anti-inflammatory: with soothing ingredients such as niacinamide, bisabolol, zinc, Aloe Vera or vegetable extracts such as camomile.

You should choose the right serum according to your skin type:
- Oily skin: since serum has a light texture all of them are usually suitable for oily skin, although you should choose one that contains a sebum regulator such as salicylic acid.
- Dry skin: a serum with moisturising action and high hyaluronic acid or lactic acid content, which will also hydrate your skin.
- Blotchy skin: choose one that combines pigment corrector substances with skin illuminator such as vitamin C.
- Older skin: in this case, two types of serum are recommended, a night serum with active ingredients such as retinol or glycolic acid, and an antioxidant serum for the mornings to prevent the sun from damaging your skin.
How to apply serum on your face

Serum should be applied twice a day to your face, neck and neckline. It should always be applied before the moisturiser when your skin is clean so that the active ingredients come into direct contact with your skin and there are no barriers to hinder it being absorbed. A few drops are enough for it to work properly. Face serums have an ultra-light texture meaning they are absorbed very quickly.
Use the applicator to put a few drops on your cheekbone and spread it out using your fingertips in circular movements working outwards. If you also use this time to do some face exercises, you will enhance the remodelling action of the serum.
How to apply serum on your hair
Hair serum is designed to increase the volume of your hair, soften it and give it more shine. It also protects it from environmental factors such as the sun, dust and pollution. So how do we apply it?

- First of all we will have to wash our hair before applying it.
- The amount of serum we apply to our hair will depend on how thick and how long our hair is. Put between 2 and 6 drops on the palms of your hands and rub them together to spread it out evenly.
- With your hair pulled forward, first apply the product from the ends to the roots, massaging it into the ends. This will avoid them splitting thanks to the hydration effect. Then push your hair backwards and massage a couple of drops of hair serum into your scalp. Then repeat the process on all your hair, distributing the serum from the roots to the ends.
- Brush your hair afterwards and you will see how the serum prevents it from knotting.
- Allow your hair to dry naturally or use a hairdryer.
