Colour rinse: What is it?
A colour rinse is the perfect solution to give life to your hair without damaging or harming it. Find out how to do it and the colours that will suit you best.
What is colour rinse?
Colour rinse gives colour to your hair but it does not contain ammonia. A lot of people resort to colour rinses when they first start to think about dying their hair, since it is a much less aggressive dying technique. It is the best choice when those first grey hairs start to appear. Furthermore, colour rinses are a good option, as they confer shine to our hair, and give it an extra lease of life.
What is the main difference between a colour rinse and dye though? Basically, it is the formula, which is much less aggressive in colour rinses as they do not contain ammonia. Since it is a tone on tone colouring, it gradually washes out meaning it lasts less than traditional dyes. Whereas dye can completely change the colour of our hair, colour rinses only vary the colour of our hair by one or two tones, and it fades as we wash our hair.
Its effects usually last for about 28 washes, and therefore the colour and shine of our hair will depend on how often we wash it.
Does colour rinse damage your hair?
No, definitely not. As we have already explained, colour rinse formulae are much more gentle on our hair than dye, and they confer shine and brightness.
It is ideal for all types of hair, without exceptions. Whether or not you have already dyed your hair, if it is the first time you are experimenting with other colours, whether you are blonde, ginger or even brunette, if you have a lot or a little hair, with colour rinses you will be sure to give it some extra shine, and some enhancing reflections of the light.
Moreover, colour rinses can also be a temporary solution to cover up highlights. You will need to bear in mind though that the results are short term, it will only cover up bleached highlights, and we will need to repeat the application as the rinse fades out.
