We love placing decorative, scented candles around our homes... To decorate a table while enjoying a meal with guests, putting them in the corner of the living room or bedroom for extra cosiness, to improve the smell of our homes... there are many reasons why we chose to put candles in our home. However much we like candles though, the stains they leave behind can be very troublesome. The first thing we should do though is allow the wax to dry before attempting to clean it off. We should never touch hot wax or try to remove it, as we could burn ourselves.

How to clean candle wax off the floor?
Once the wax has dried, we should try to remove it using a spatula or scraper. Beware though, we need to take into account the type of flooring and be careful not to scratch it.
Dry wax is much easier to clean off.
On tiled flooring, there is no problem because it is not porous and therefore no stains will be left behind. If the floor is porous though, such as clay, we should quickly wipe it down using a microfibre cleaning cloth soaked in water, soap and degreaser, similar to washing up liquid. We should use this mixture to scrub the floor to avoid a stain being left behind.
How to clean candle wax off wood?
To remove wax stains from wood, we will need a pack of ice, or similar, a piece of hard plastic to help scrape and remove the wax, a microfibre cleaning cloth and our usual wood cleaner.
When the wax is dry, apply the cold of the ice avoiding any meltwater dripping onto the wood and staining it.
We will notice how the wax comes unstuck little by little, and we can help the process using the hard plastic to scrape and slide the wax off.
When all the wax has come off, we should clean the wood as usual using the microfibre cloth and specific wood cleaner.
How to clean candle wax off glass?
So, what happens if wax drips onto glass? In this case, we should not use any implements that could scratch the glass.
We should first allow the wax to dry well and harden. We can remove the bigger lumps using a spoon or wooden spatula so as not to scratch the glass.
We should then clean off any remaining wax using a clean microfibre cloth and glass cleaner or liquid detergent.
