Caring for greasy hair

How often should we wash greasy hair?
Greasy hair should be washed the same as non-greasy hair, and the common belief that we need to spread out washing intervals otherwise sebum builds up and blocks our follicles, causing weakening of our hair and hair loss, has no scientific grounds. But we do need to take the following factors into account to keep grease under control.
- Do not rub your scalp excessively. We recommend gentle washing, using circular movements to activate blood circulation in the scalp and to loosen any sebum build-up to get rid of it.
- Avoid hair fixing agents. These products tend to dirty capillary fibre more.
- Use grease regulating shampoo. These products strengthen your hair and give it volume.
- Wash your hair with lukewarm water. This is the right temperature to open cuticles which gets rid of grease and remains of hair products. Hot water opens cuticles excessively and damages your hair, whereas your hair will not come properly clean with cold water.
- Do not touch. Hands off. If you touch your hair excessively, it is more likely to become greasy.
- Look after your diet. A balanced diet will always help to make sure your bodily functions work better.
How can I get rid of grease from my hair without washing it
If you need to wash your hair but haven’t got the time, but you still need to look your best, here are some tips to wash your hair with products that you can find in your local supermarket and even in your first aid kit or pantry, to get by.
- Dry shampoo, a quick and very clean option. You can use it anywhere.
- Talcum powder, you’re sure to have some at home. You can apply it to the parts of your scalp where there is most grease. Allow it to absorb the grease and then shake it off and brush it out.
