Are you looking for a Verdejo with good value for money? We can help you! Discover this selection of the 10 best Verdejo wines from our Bodega.
What is it about the Verdejo that makes it so popular among consumers?
Yes, "the" Verdejo, because we are talking about a grape variety, not a type of wine.
It is one of those cases in which, due to its great success, the name of the grape becomes more important than the area or the type of wine it is. When you ask for a "Verdejo", everybody knows what you mean, but let's take a closer look at what these wines are.
As we have said, the Verdejo grape produces the most representative wines of the Rueda Denomination of Origin. This variety has been grown for more than 10 centuries in the region, but it is not the only one. The presence of Sauvignon Blanc in the area is more than palpable, and it is often combined with Verdejo, contributing its characteristic notes of passion fruit. Palomino Fino, Chardonnay, Viura and Viognier complete the list of white grapes authorised in the region.
But why does Verdejo outshine the rest? Because of its aromas and flavour, they are very fruity wines. Their hints of aniseed and fennel, and their bitter note and high acidity on the palate, give them a unique personality and great versatility to accompany all types of gastronomy.

The variety of these wines goes beyond the commercial success of the young, lively, fresh and fruity Verdejos.
- Rueda Dorado: wine traditionally made from Verdejo and Palomino Fino grapes, with oxidative ageing. Powerful, very complex wines, and a jewel to be discovered.
- Rueda Espumoso: with the main grapes, Verdejo or Sauvignon Blanc, taking centre stage. They are a great option for bubble lovers with all the character of the fruity and aromatic wines of Rueda.
- Rueda Pálido: liqueur wine with 15º alcoholic content. Made with biological ageing, and Verdejo and Palomino Fino grapes. It has aromas of yeast, marzipan, nuts... It has personality and character in abundance.
- Gran Vino Rueda: with the intention of enhancing the value of older vineyards and more limited productions, this category arises for those who want to go a step further.
- Vinos de Pueblo: if you want to discover the identity of each area of the Rueda Denomination of Origin, this category indicates the wines in which at least 85% of the grapes come from a single municipality.
In Rueda, red and rosé wines are also made with Tempranillo, Garnacha and Merlot grapes, among others.
Despite all these variants, the area has specialised in the production of white wines. In general: very understandable for the majority of consumers, at very economical prices and to drink at any time. This formula has been their great commercial success, and what has given "the Verdejos" their own name.
