Tomato is the fruit of the tomato plant, a herbaceous species belonging to the Solanaceae family. The branches of this plant are covered in small hairs that absorb water, but also collect necessary nutrients.
Serrated leaves and yellow flowers sprout from these branches which later produce the tomatoes.

Tomato is mainly made up of water and carbohydrates. This vegetable is also rich in Carotenoids specifically, in vitamins from groups A and C, which help to prevent cell ageing thanks to their powerful anti-oxidant action.
Among these Carotenoids from Vitamin group A, we can find lycopene, although the quantity of this varies depending on the type of tomato grown.
We can also find minerals in tomatoes, such as phosphorous, magnesium, sodium and potassium, the latter in a larger quantity.
