Sweet potato, also known as yam, is the tuber obtained from the plant of the same name. It belongs to the Convolvulaceae family. It is elongated, although in some cases it can be a spherical shape.
Sweet potato is similar to potato, although botanically they are not related. Although there are different varieties of sweet potato, the most common is the variety with red skin, orange flesh and a sweet flavour.
