Radish
Radish is a plant belonging to the Cruciferae family with an edible root. This vegetable has a branched stem with serrated and long leaves whose base joins with the root and constitutes a globe-shaped core which varies in colour and size depending on the variety.
Radishes originate from China, but nowadays they are grown in many regions of the world with warm or temperate climates. This vegetable can be found in the supermarket all year round, in the warm months it is grown outdoors and in the colder months, in greenhouses.

This vegetable has a high water content and also includes vitamins from group C, which help to prevent ageing. It also has a high quantity of calcium, sodium, phosphorous and potassium, which helps the correct working of the muscles and the nervous system.
Within its composition, the presence of sulphur compounds such as glucosinolate stands out. This helps to create the spicy flavour of some varieties of radish.
