Pineapple

Pineapple is the composite fruit obtained from a perennial plant that belongs to the Bromeliaceae family.

Its edible pulp is yellow, fleshy, aromatic, sweet and juicy. This is surrounded by green bracts that turn orange when ripe and form the skin of the fruit.

At the upper end, the bracts transform into a crown of leaves. Three botanical varieties of tropical pineapple are currently known: sativus, comosus and lucidus.
