The orange is the fruit of the sweet orange tree, a citrus tree of the Rutaceae family. This fruit has a round appearance with a firm and shiny orange skin. Its pulp is made up of numerous vesicles filled with juice. The flavor of this fruit varies from acid to sweet.
The orange has its origin in the southwest of China, and currently its cultivation is concentrated in the areas bathed by the Mediterranean Sea, such as Spain. This fruit is considered winter, since it is harvested during the coldest months or mid-autumn.
