Date
The date comes from the date palm tree, belonging to the Araceae family. It is a palm tree with a single trunk and covered in leaves (the palms), which sprout cream coloured branched leaflets, on which oval fruits grow (the dates).
They are dark orange in colour, with a smooth shell and a fleshy and sweet pulp, similar to honey. Inside they contain a long stone with a lengthways slit.
