As a social economy company, Consum always puts people first in its decision-making, since providing an excellent service for our customers can only be achieved through the very best professionals working in the very best conditions.
Consum created 653 new jobs in 2024, reaching a total workforce of 21,869 employees, of which 72% are women, who hold 64.3% of the management positions in our stores. This has been achieved through ongoing equal opportunities schemes implemented by the Cooperative, now in its 5th Equality Plan. Moreover, 92% of the Cooperative's workforce are permanent members or members on trial periods, thereby ensuring our policy of creating quality, stable employment, and committing to and fostering our cooperative model for the wellbeing of our people.
On the other hand, Consum is the only company in the sector that has held the EFR (Family Responsible Company) Certificate since 2007, achieving the A+ level of Excellence in 2025. Hence, by continuing with this premise, the Cooperative has invested 58.3 million Euros in work-life balance and wellbeing, working out on average at 2,665 Euros per employee. Thanks to this, and our people management strategy, we were also awarded the “EFR Bienestar” Seal, a recognition that has only been awarded to 3 companies in Spain. Furthermore, we were awarded the Top Employers certificate for the twelfth year running, certifying the Cooperative as one of the best companies to work for in Spain.
