Stand up to bullying!

DialecTICproyect.org https://dialecticproyect.org is a social initiative sponsored by the Department of Innovation of the Valencia City Council that seeks to address hatred, violence and discrimination on the Internet, expressed through harassment and cyberbullying of children and young people. This platform provides support to adolescents from a Practical Ethics approach, promoting a critical, reflective and deliberative use of the Internet, ICTs and social networks, through education in ethical and intercultural values in cyberspace. With the aid of new technologies, the aim is to develop a communicative approach, mutual responsibility and healthy self-esteem in students. 

Size of the problem in Spain

Technological development has accelerated in recent decades. The misuse of the internet and social networks compromise people's dignity, without respecting human rights.

Cyberbullying has replaced bullying, with no time and location limits. From 4th grade of Primary to 4th grade of Secondary, 6.2% of students in Spain acknowledge that they are victims of bullying. And there are almost two cases of bullying per class, according to the 'Study on bullying and cyberbullying in childhood and adolescence' by the Complutense University of Madrid and the Cola-Cao Foundation (2023).

Secure digital environment

The social initiative DialecTICproyect.org promotes a safe and enriching digital environment for minors and adolescents, actively combating hatred, violence and discrimination in their multiple expressions. Among them, bullying, cyberbullying, religious intolerance, Islamophobia, Judeophobia and anti-Gypsyism.

Work is being done to develop healthy self-esteem, emotional resilience and digital-critical awareness in new generations to navigate safely and ethically in the virtual world.

DialecTICproyect.org aspires to a future where every young person can harness the positive potential of the Internet, without fear of harm, envisioning a generation of ethical, empathetic and resilient digital users who use technologies for their personal growth and the common good. 

Decalogue of values they promote

1.Empathy. Fostering mutual understanding and compassion through digital interactions.

2. Security. Prioritizing the protection of children and young people in the online spaces of the new digital world.

3. Education. Believing in the transformative power of learning to form conscious and responsible digital users.

4.Inclusion. Promoting a digital environment where everyone is respected, regardless of background, identity, or beliefs.

5. Innovation. Developing a constant search for creative solutions to face the digital dangers and challenges that are hidden in virtual environments.

6. Resilience. Supporting the development of capacities for adaptation to take on and overcome online challenges, especially among young people.

7. Interdisciplinary collaboration. Helping to stimulate the joint work of professionals from Computer Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, as well as specialists in Moral Philosophy and Digital Marketing together with families and educators to advance towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030.

8. Transparency. Maintaining a realistic, balanced and honest position on the risks and benefits of New Technologies, promoting the conscious, responsible and ethical use of computer platforms.

9. Well-being. It is committed to promoting the mental health and holistic well-being of children and young people in their growing participation in the digital age.

10. Self-esteem. Cultivating the value of self-esteem, as the ability that people have to love, value and accept themselves as they are, their real Self, as unique and unrepeatable beings.
