Gaining volume is always one of the main objectives to achieve when we want a good haircut on fine hair. Normally this type of hair tends to frizz, loses volume at the roots, sticks to the skull too much, and also has a tendency to get greasy easily, so gaining density will avoid most of the 'problems'.
For this type of hair, the looks that work best are the ones that are no longer than chest height: in other words, the most advisable looks are mid-length “middies” or bobs, and the garçon or pixie style, for shorter and more daring looks.
“Middy”
Mid-length hairstyles are those that end above or just touching the shoulders.
- More movement and texture to avoid the 'flat' effect of fine hair.
- They are more versatile than shorter looks as they allow for more possibilities: “updos”, plaits, waves...
- Elegant and discreet.
Bob
This is a haircut that ends near the jawline, below the ear and always above the shoulder.

- Timeless: this style never goes out of fashion and will always be in vogue.
- Comfortable. It doesn't require as much attention as long hair. It can be dried, moisturised, washed and styled quickly.
Garçon
These are the shortest looks, also called pixie, inspired by the more classic men's cuts.
- Bold and with personality.
- Little care. They do not require as much time as long hair, although they do need specific products, especially for fixation, as well as frequent visits to the hairdresser.
- They strengthen the hair. They create the effect of having more hair, especially if it is wavy or curly.
Long hair, an impossible task?
Fine hair can be kept long, but there are a few conditions to be met:
- Better not to be longer than chest length.
- Be careful with layered cuts, the ends may be too thin.
- Pay special attention to the care and maintenance of the ends so that they are always healthy.
- Always keep your hair moisturised with continuous treatment.
