Participation

100% of the Cooperative's members - both employees and consumers - have the right to participate in its management. The highest representative body of the Cooperative, the Consum General Assembly, comprises 150 Delegated Partners - 75 representing workers and 75 representing consumers.

The General Assembly is the body responsible for electing the governing body of the Cooperative, the Governing Council, which is currently 63,6% female.

The Governing Council delegates the management of Consum to the Directorate-General and the Management Board. Consum has another body, the Social Committee and its Delegate Committees, to promote communication and provide advice on socio-labour issues within the Cooperative.

The Board of Governors includes an Audit Committee, which is responsible for internal control, corporate risk prevention and ensuring compliance with the applicable requirements for Consum as a public interest entity. The Cooperative also has an Appeals Committee, comprising four partner-customers, which reviews cases in which partners contest decisions made by the Board of Governors that affect them.

Ethics and good governance

Consum's model of good governance was born with the aim of making the Cooperative's management systems more transparent, efficient and democratic. The Consumer Code of Good Corporate Governance includes the Cooperative's commitment to a more comprehensive and transparent management, in order to promote trust among stakeholders.

Consum's Code of Ethics and Conduct includes comprehensive guidelines for workers, regarding both performance of their work duties and their relationships with other stakeholders.

To ensure compliance with these Codes, Consum has an Ethics Committee and a Complaints Channel.
